Summertime beverages pair best when poured over ice. While we enjoy the freshness of ice, we might not give the equipment that makes it any thought. In order to help, we would like to take this opportunity to share our knowledge as a professional ice maker manufacturer in this area.

Let's first quickly go over what an ice maker machine is and the various available models available in the market.

What Exactly Is an Ice Maker Device?

A machine that creates ice is called an ice maker. The freestanding ice maker, which creates ice as needed, is the most popular kind of ice maker machine.

The Different Types of Ice Maker Machines

Countertop, under-counter, portable, and commercial ice makers are some of the ice makers available on the market.
The most popular kind of ice maker is a countertop one. They are simple to store on your countertop because they are small and compact.Ice makers that fit beneath your kitchen counter are called under-counter ice makers.Portable ice makers are lightweight and compact, making them simple to transport from one place to another.Commercial ice machines are used exclusively for business. They are more potent and larger than other kinds of ice-making equipment.

Is It Difficult to Use an Ice Maker Machine?

The answer is not at all! Most ice maker machines are very simple to use. To enjoy the ice, simply fill the reservoir with water, plug in the machine, and wait for the ice to come. Some machines may have a button or lever that needs to be turned on before the ice-making process begins.

The Benefits of Using an Ice Maker Machine

Maintaining the cool, delightful temperature of your drinks is easy with an ice maker machine. Using an ice maker machine has numerous advantages, including:

  • Convenience: They can make ice all the time, without having to wait for few houese the freezer to turn water into ice cubes.
  • Cost-effectiveness: Making ice by yourself at home is much more cheaper than buying bags of ice from the store.
  • Environmental friendly: They use very little water and electricity, and they generate no waste products.
  • Health benefits: Ice maker machines can also have health benefits. The filtered water that they use can remove impurities from your drinks, making them healthier for you to consume.

How to Choose the Best Ice Maker Machine for Your Needs?

  • Know the amount of ice you need on a daily basis.
  • Decide where you will be using the machine. Some machines are designed for indoor use only, while others can be used indoors and outdoors. If you plan on using your machine outdoors, make sure it is durable and can withstand weather challenges.
  • Plan your budget. Many good machines have reasonable prices. If your budget is enough, you might choose to spend it on a better machine that will last longer and produce better results.

The Ice Making Mechanism

The water pump continuously circulates the chilled water in the water storage tank of the ice maker through the plate or compartment evaporator. After the compressor of the ice maker is operated, it will undergo suction-compression-exhaust-condensation (liquefaction)-throttle and then evaporate and vaporize at a low temperature of -10°C to -18°C in the evaporator. Chilled water continuously condenses into ice on the cooler surface of the evaporator at a water temperature of 0°C. When the ice layer condenses to a certain thickness after the refrigerant's evaporation temperature reaches the temperature control's set temperature, the defrosting solenoid valve is turned on. The heat pump works to remove the ice, kicking the next ice making cycle.

Recipes for Ice Maker Machine

Whether you're looking to make ice for a cold drink or you need it for therapeutic purposes, there are a few different recipes you can try with your ice maker machine.

If you just need ice, you only need water. Fill the reservoir with water and wait for the machine to do its job. If you want to add some flavor to your ice, you can use fruit juices, purees, herbs, and spices to infuse flavor into your ice cubes. Combine your choice of ingredients with water and freeze in your ice maker machine. These ices are perfect for adding a little extra zing to cocktails or non-alcoholic drinks.

For those who need therapeutic relief, using an ice maker machine to make rice bags is an excellent way to soothe sore muscles and joints. Simply fill small cloth bags with uncooked rice, tie them off, and place them in the freezer section of your machine. Once frozen solid, these rice bags can be placed on areas of pain for up to 20 minutes at a time for quick relief.

There is a secret recipe is shaved ice:

  • 1 cup of water
  • 1/2 cup of sugar
  • 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract
  • Ice cubes

In a saucepan, heat the water and sugar until the sugar has dissolved. Add the vanilla extract and let cool. Pour the syrup into a blender with the ice cubes and blend until smooth. Serve immediately.

  • 1 cup of juice or yogurt
  • 1/4 cup of honey
  • Ice cube trays or popsicle molds

Mix the juice or yogurt and honey together. Pour mixture into the trays or molds, insert sticks, and freeze until solid.

Ice Machine Using Skills

The ice maker should be installed in a place far away from the heat source, without direct sunlight, and with good ventilation. The ambient temperature should not exceed 35°C to prevent the condenser from being too hot to dissipate heat and affect the ice-making effect. The ground on which the ice maker is installed should be solid and level, and the ice maker must be kept level. Otherwise, the ice maker will not be removed, and noise will be generated during operation.

The gap between the ice maker's back and left and right sides is not less than 30cm, and the top gap is not less than 60cm.

The ice maker should use an independent power supply, a dedicated line, be equipped with fuses and leakage protection switches, and be reliably grounded.

The water used by the ice maker should meet the national drinking water standards, and a water filter device should be installed to filter impurities in the water so as not to block the water pipe and pollute the sink and ice mold. And affect the ice-making performance.

When cleaning the ice machine, turn off the power supply. Using the water pipe to flush the machine is strictly forbidden. It should be scrubbed with a neutral detergent. It is strictly forbidden to clean with corrosive solvents such as acid and alkaline.

The ice maker must unscrew the head of the water inlet hose for two months and clean the water inlet valve filter to prevent the sand and mud impurities in the water from blocking the water inlet, which will cause the water inlet from becoming smaller, resulting in no ice making.

The ice maker must clean the dust on the surface of the condenser every two months. Poor condensation and heat dissipation will cause damage to the compressor components. Use a vacuum cleaner, a small brush, etc., to clean the oil and dust on the condensing surface. Do not use sharp metal tools to clean it so as not to damage the condenser.

The water pipes, sinks, storage bins, and protective films of the ice maker should be cleaned every two months.
When the ice maker is not in use, it should be cleaned, and the ice mold and the moisture in the box should be dried with a hairdryer and placed in a place without corrosive gas and ventilated and dry to avoid storage in the open air.

Ice Maker Machine Recipes

There are a few recipes that you can make with an ice maker machine.

Ice making cycle

The ice maker automatically enters a water storage tank through the replenishment water valve, and then the water is pumped through the flow control valve to the diverter head, where the water is evenly sprayed on the surface of the ice maker, flowing like a water curtain. On the wall of the ice maker, the water is cooled to the freezing point, and the water that is not frozen by evaporation will flow into the water storage tank through the porous groove, and the cycle will restart.

Ice mining cycle

When the ice machine reaches the required thickness (the thickness can be chosen arbitrarily by the operator/user), the hot gas discharged from the compressor will be re-introduced into the clamping wall of the ice maker to replace the low-temperature liquid refrigerant. This forms a thin film of water between the ice and the wall of the evaporation tube, which will lubricate the ice as it falls freely into the groove below gravity.

The water produced during the ice harvest cycle will be returned to the water storage tank through the porous tank, which also prevents the wet ice from being discharged by the machine.

Refrigerator condensation

Ice machines are available with air-cooled, water-cooled, or evaporative condensers. The evaporative type is installed above the ice machine, the water-cooled condenser is installed under the ice machine or under the refrigeration system, and the air-cooled condenser can be installed together with the ice machine according to the actual situation. It can also be installed outdoors. If desired, water-cooled condensers can be used on ships or on shore, using seawater for cooling. Evaporative cooling can be used when the ambient air temperature is high. Still, from the perspective of efficiency and economy, it is not suitable for water-cooled or air-cooled refrigeration.

Ice machine precautions

How much salt (dosing) needs to be added to the water used in the ice maker depends on the amount of ice making, and the modulation pump (plunger pump) is automatically adjusted.
The main body of the ice maker is divided into two chambers. The copper tube (evaporation chamber) of a certain density on the inner plate of the outer chamber is the thing for refrigeration.
Inside the outer cavity of the ice machine is a very regular round stainless steel cavity with a three-blade scraper in the center and the distance between the inner wall and the inner wall can be adjusted by itself, generally 3 mm. There are several sets of evenly distributed copper nozzles above the skates.
The working principle of the ice maker is that when the machine is turned on, the plunger pump will spray 0.2 kg of water mixed with salt through several filters evenly on the surface of the inner cavity. Then the cooling surface of the outer cavity will instantly form a 3 mm thick water. Under the rotating ice blade, the ice surface will break the freshly made ice into small pieces and drop them into the storage bin!

How to Clean an Ice Maker Machine

Assuming you have a standard home ice maker machine, the first thing you'll need to do is unplug it from the power source. Next, remove any loose ice from the machine by hand and discard it. Now it's time to clean the inside of the machine.

To do this, mix together a solution of 1 part water and 1 part vinegar. Using a clean cloth or sponge, wipe down all of the interior surfaces of the machine with this solution, being sure to get into all of the nooks and crannies. Rinse everything off with clean water when you're finished.

Once the interior is clean, you can move on to cleaning the exterior. Again, using a solution of 1 part water and 1 part vinegar, wipe down the outside of the machine, paying special attention to any areas that look particularly dirty or grimy. Rinse everything off with clean water when you're done.

Finally, wipe down all of the ice maker's parts - such as the auger, Ice bucket liner, and door gasket - with a damp cloth. Once everything is clean and dry, reassemble your ice maker machine and plug it back in.

I’m opening a family restaurant soon, and since I’ll be serving cold drinks to my customers, I will need an ice maker to make preparing them much faster. I’m glad you emphasized how cost-effective it is to have an ice maker since we can produce ice ourselves instead of buying bags of them from the store. I’ll take note of this while I look for an ice maker to place in my restaurant soon.

It’s good to know that ice makers need to be cleaned using water and vinegar. I need to get a new ice maker for my bakery, but I’ll be without one for about two weeks. It seems like ice delivery would be the best option until I can get a new machine.
