This is a great ice maker for the home bar, or if you have a bar at a small restaurant, this will mostly keep up with demand.I like that it's flexible for water intake. It comes with two options: Direct Line into your plumbing or line into something like a water bottle (i.e. for the water cooler). Both options do have inline filters which is a nice touch.It also acts fairly quickly. From startup to first decent tray of ice was about 15 minutes. The design is nice: the tray sits vertically and water trickles over top of it and the cubes form.In terms of options, there are many ice thickness options that accommodate most of your needs. As for noise - very quiet - the loudest part is when the ice drops in the bin.Now - some things are a little different that are worth pointing out. First, the ice options will require some finesse. If you choose the thickest option, the ice will come out as a big block that's hard to break up. You will want to play around with this to get the thickest "breakable" setting.Next - it doesn't "keep" the ice. This was a big disappointment. The ice is made and it immediately begins melting. Now - more ice = less melting since it'll remain cooler, much like how a full glass of ice melts less in a warm glass of pop than a few cubes, but nevertheless, it'll melt and drain. This isn't all bad - you will always have fresh, non-stagnant ice, so that's good, but expect some melt - especially when you're making your first batches from empty.Additionally - the plumbing. The drainage out needs to be thought out. There's no outgoing pump, so the level that the drain sits has to be lower than the machine - which is already quite low. If not, you risk it flooding out the door (ask how I know). So if you plan on "recycling" the water using the water cooler method, it's not going to work unless you install some sort of pump, or can manage the height difference.With all that said - it's a fairly standard setup for a ice maker, only it lacks some features - notably general insulation and refrigeration - that are in most ice makers. It's still very fast and productive and way ahead of those countertop makers that make the little ice "bullets".If you need a little extra ice making abilities and you want quality ice - this is a good machine - just know its limitations going in.

This is a small commercial ice maker that is perfect for our farm kitchen, but wouldn't be right for every situation.First, it can take a permanent hookup to tap water OR bottled water but does require a gravity drain and a dedicated electrical circuit. We designed our farm kitchen with a tap water connection and a drain near the floor specifically for an ice maker, but I could imagine putting this on a countertop and running the drain hose to an adjacent sink.Second, it's not a large capacity machine by commercial standards. You could not run a restaurant of any size with it. I would estimate that the bin holds an amount of ice similar to a refrigerator ice maker, although I think it refills quicker than any refrigerator ice maker I've owned. For our farm kitchen, it is the right size because we do not have an ice maker in the fridge and I mostly need ice on days I am blanching produce for the freezer. I tried it yesterday starting with a full bin and was able to work all afternoon without running out of ice. So for a very small cafe, or a rec room or outdoor kitchen without an ice maker in the fridge, this would be a good size.The unit arrived in good shape (very well packaged!) and was pretty easy to install as long as you have the right water connection. They even supply a fitting that looks like the male end of a garden hose (we didn't need it, but might be useful for rigging up water when the room wasn't designed for an ice maker). I've only used it a few days but have had no issues so far (I'll update this review if problems develop). It is compact so I was able to fit it in a small space and could even use a rolling cart and scrap piece of countertop I had on hand to elevate it to a good working height. Price point was good to get the ice capacity I need without investing in a large commercial machine. Recommended as long as you carefully consider the size unit you need.

The timer function is useful for scheduling ice production, and the self-cleaning feature helps maintain hygiene with minimal effort.
